Memorial Service

Our loving son

Gordon loved life and was always the light of the party. Every year we would go to the Topsail Island on vacation. Then we would make our stop to their dads hometown in S.C. We would have so much fun as a family, everyone always looked foward into going. When growing  up  he used to keep up with the new trends from brake dancing, to skateboarding, hoop, riding mopeds into trouble   would have to be 16 and he was only 14 ! Gordon could brake dance like there was no tomorrow. Everyone was amazed how he did this. Gordon loved to listen to Old School music Hip Hop, loved to dance and act crazy. He loved to listen to the Jerky Boys Pranks. He had his dad and I listening to them. Gordon used to love fishing, tryed bringing them home for me to cook but no way! Favorite show on TV was The Sopranos. He wouldn't miss that show for anything. He also loved to watch old movies with his dad. And of course he loved football. His favorite team was Carolina. Most of all Gordon loved his Conquest (first car) then the Cadillac, nickname was (Cadillac Grille) and his newest toy was the truck. He used to spend all day cleaning them. He had a lot of plans to fix it up the way he wanted. Gordon didn't get the chance to do it as God had other plans for him. Everything he wanted to do to it was done. His dad made sure of that. Gordon was neat as a pin and didn't like anything out of place. His favorite drink was mountain dew. Favorite food was a big juicy steak, mashed potatoes. Favorite foods he liked to cook were sloppy joes, steaks for his girl at that time! Chinese was on his list also. Liked all foods in general but hated mayonnaise. His favorite Holidays were Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter.
You could tell when Gordon was going to prank someone because he would start with his smile or his laugh. He would motion with his chin and give you a smirk when he was about to kid around with someone. He didn't like it when someone wouldn't stand up for themself, that bothered him a lot. He never liked to see anyone's feelings hurt. He never liked anyone to be or stay mad at him. He never liked conflicts and always wanted everyone to get along. In his teens Gordon saved two men from drowning and was awarded a bronzed medal and a savings bond. Gordon was a compassionate person and always was the speaker of the family. Everyone looked up to him. He was very protective over his family. If ever there was a problem he was always there to help.
Gordon went through a faze where he dropped out of high school only to go back and get his diploma within months. After graduating from High School Gordon enlisted in the U.S. Army National Guard. He went to San Antonio, TX for his basic training, where he was a registered Emergency Medical Technician. He was awarded two Army achievement medals, certification in human relations. Gordon opted not to re enlist in the Army.  After the military Gordon enrolled in  Community College for Business Administration. In Feb. 2002 he attended Vale National Training Center Inc. where he successfully completed a course in Apprasial and Structural Realignment. Gordon was in a long relationship with his sweetheart but things didn't work out . He started drifting apart from everyone who loved him and gave up on all that was important to him in his life. When he finally started to turn his life around he ended up having a sudden massive heart attack. This wasn't expexted at all . He went home early from work due to stomach discomfort. We we're told he was eating tums like crazy. We got a phone call around 9:30 pm saying we had to go straight to the hospital it was Gordon. I went crazy running around in circles saying no I couldn't go. Well I did go and it was the worse pain in our families life. To see your son, brother lying there lifeless. I talked to him three times on the phone that morning, he told me he had to go to the doctor because his stomache was hurting him.  Each time he would say okay ma I love you. It has effected us for the rest of our lives and will never be the same again....
